I envisioned my best friend's wedding

If you are married someday, you'll probably be the first and only friend of mine to get married. (The first reason is I don't have many friends; the second being we are all aromantic/asexual for weird reasons. I guess that's how neurodivergence works.)

It’s also weird that I imagined your wedding last night. I was your maid of honor; I should be (please let me be), but it feels like such a distant future, one that is so far away that it will never ever come.

And the speech goes, from how great a person you are to this, something I once read. It went roughly like this: “You're having a wonderful but perfectly ordinary time. Years later, you look back and realize it was probably the happiest time of your life.”

I read that sentence the day I watched you perform in Hamilton. I was so happy, and I was so scared that sentence might be a prophecy for me. So far, it seems it wasn't. The point is, (because today you are getting married), today is for sure a grand and happy day, but this won't be the happiest day of your life. I want you to be even happier every day afterward. I want you to be happier on your birthday, at Christmas, and on every other perfectly normal day. I wish you happy ever and ever and forevermore.
